DAY 00: DEPARTURE FROM YOUR PLACE

You will depart from your home to the first country in Indochina: Laos depending on your flight and departure point.

DAY 01: ARRIVAL – VIENTIANE (D)

Upon arrival at the airport in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, our guide and driver with car will pick you up and transfer to the hotel for rest.

Lunch is on your own account. Dinner is served local restaurant.

DAY 02: VIENTIANE – FULL DAY TOUR (B, L)

After breakfast at hotel, you will start the tour with several visits to the major sights of the capital including the oldest Wat Sisaket with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image.

On the way to the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, stop to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is well known as Vientiane's own Arc de Triumph.

Continue to visit the Central Market so-called “Morning Market” where you can find the antique items for collection, well handmade textile and gift items.

Transfer to visit the National Museum (Revolutionary Museum) where various antique items along with legend of Laos' historical fighters and leaders are displayed from the ancient times to new revolution period.

Finally, visit Buddha Park then return to hotel for relax.

DAY 03: VIENTIANE – LUANG PRABANG (B, L)

Transfer to the airport for a short flight to Luang Prabang, which is perhaps the best - preserved traditional city in Southeast Asia recognized by UNESCO as World Cultural Heritage.

Luang Prabang was the first capital of Lane Xang, which was the largest kingdom of Southeast Asia during mid of 14th century and the beginning of 18th century. Nowadays, Luang Prabang is the centre of the regions life of Laos. The city is a delight and a heaven accentuated by its semi-colonial architecture, surrounding tropical vegetation and extreme languor…

Visit the most beautiful and oldest temples in the city and surrounding areas including Wat Visoun, Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represent the classical architecture of Luang Prabang temple.…

In the late afternoon, climb up to the top of Phousi Mount for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as viewing a beautiful panorama sunset over the royal ancient city and the Mekong River. It consists of 355 well paved zigzagged steps up to the summit with a stop halfway to visit Wat Tham Phousi before reach the Golden Wat Chomsi on top.

After a short rest, go down to stroll around the Street Night Bazaar, where you can find the lovely collection and handmade textile by local and hill tribe people surrounding Luang Prabang.

DAY 04: LUANG PRABANG – PAK OU – LUANG PRABANG (B, L)

AM: Take a boat trip upstream the Mekong River, which gives you a beautiful view of the tranquil countryside along with an interesting visit to the mysterious of Pak Ou Caves, crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes. These statues are believed to have been left in the caves by local peoples for hundreds of years. You will visit two caves of Tham Ting and Tham Theung in the limestone cliffs.

On the way, stop at the village of Ban Muangkeo or village Ban Xiang Hay, which is famous for its rice wine called “Lao-Lao”. Try the local whiskey before having lunch at the bank of the river.

PM: Return to Luang Prabang after lunch and visit Ban Xangkhong, which is famous for its weaving, specializing in producing paper and silk.

Arrive in Luang Prabang in the late afternoon. Free time at leisure.

DAY 05: LUANG PRABANG – KUANG SI WATERFALL – LUANG PRABANG (B, D)

AM: If you are interested in, please wake up early and participate in the daily early morning ritual of saffron-clad monks with their black Alms-giving bowls being given offerings from the local people, including the ubiquitous sticky rice. From there, you can visit the morning Phousi Market where you will see such diverse offerings as dried buffalo skin, local tea and salt pepper among the chickens, vegetables and hill-tribe weavings.

Transfer to visit beautiful Kuang Si Waterfall, a three tier waterfall located about 30km from Luang Prabang city. En route, have a stop to visit the fruit market Talad Phosy at the village of Ban Na.

The falls begins in a shallow pools atop a steep hillside. These lead to the main fall with a 200 foot cascade. The water collects in numerous turquoise blue pools as it flows downstream. There is a trail to the left of the falls and it’s good for your to have relaxing time to splash around in the pools or walk along the forest paths. Then you can have a picnic lunch near the waterfall area. 

PM: Transfer back to Luang Prabang. Stop to visit local villages of Lao ethnic minority groups at Ban Quay and Ban Oune inhabited by H’Mong and village of Ban Tha Pane of Kh’Mu people.

By late afternoon, you will be back at hotel. Relax or walk around downtown and night market. 

Lunch is on your own arrangement. Dinner is served at local restaurant.

DAY 06: LUANG PRABANG – HANOI (B, D)

Free time until transfer to the airport for the flight to Hanoi.

Upon arrival at the airport in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, our guide and driver with car welcome and pick you up. Transfer to hotel for checking in if rooms are available.

Lunch is on your own account. Dinner is served at local restaurant.

DAY 07: HANOI – FULL DAY CITY TOUR (B, L)

Transfer to have a full day city tour of the capital with our guide.

Hanoi is the second largest city of Vietnam possessing a long history. It’s interesting to listen the legends, stories and visit the attractions. One day is a standard time for a basic city tour of Hanoi.

AM: Go to the historical complex of Ba Dinh Square, where Ho Chi Minh announced the independence of Vietnam on September 02, 1945. Take pictures of outside of the President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum then walk inside to stand in queue for a visit to the Mausoleum (close on every Monday & Friday and the period of September 03 – October 31 for maintenance).

Visit the President Ho Chi Minh’s House and Garden, Ho Chi Minh Museum (if it is available) and the outside of the Presidential Palace, where heads of states and countries are received (it is closed to public).

Continue to visit One Pillar Pagoda, a historic Buddhist temple, which is regarded as one of two most iconic temples of Vietnam. Then, visit Quan Thanh temple nearby and Tran Quoc pagoda, which is the oldest pagoda in Hanoi built in the sixth century.

PM: Visit the Ethnological Museum, the finest modern museum in Vietnam to learn more about the Vietnamese ethnic groups, their culture and traditional ways of life.

Continue to visit Temple of Literature “Imperial Academy”, the first national university of Vietnam which was built in 11th century.

In the late afternoon, visit Hoan Kiem Lake with Ngoc Son temple which the legend and history. Then, it’s the time for your to walk around in the ancient quarter of Hanoi and take a one-hour cyclo or electric cart driving through the streets of the ancient quarter.

Evening: Enjoy a traditional puppet show at the theatre.

DAY 08: HANOI – HALONG (B, L, D)

Our guide with driver and car will pick you up at hotel. Start the journey to Halong by road through the rich farmlands of Red River Delta.

Stop to visit Bat Trang traditional pottery village at Hanoi suburban area.

Take a break en route at a special handicraft workshop runs for and by handicapped children. You will also have a chance to see skillful products made by those people. Enjoy a cup of local tea, try local sweets, walk around or just relax to stretch your legs.

Continue driving to Halong. Upon arrival at a wharf in Halong at around 12:30~13:00, a staff member from the boat will greet and instruct you to get aboard.

Take a brief introduction to the ship and regulation for safety. Check into your cabin.

Lunch is served with fresh seafood while the boat starts cruising into majestic Halong bay, the World Natural Heritage recognized by UNESCO. You will see the amazing karts with different formations such as Duck islet, Dog islet, Sail islet, etc.

Heading to Titop Island, you will have a chance to visit a Pearl village on the bay. In the late afternoon, you can relax, swim or climb up to the peak of the mountain on Titop island to enjoy the panorama view of Halong Bay and take pictures before cruise to a quiet firth.

At about 17:00 ~ 18:00, you can kayak or attend the cooking class (it depends on the actual situation) and watch the sunset over the bay.

At about 18:00~18:30, the boat cruise to the tranquil zone for overnight.

Dinner is served on board with delicious seafood.

After dinner, it is leisure time for film entertainment in the dining room or relaxing in your cabin or sundeck.

From 21:00, you can choose to join the squid fishing or relax in your cabin or sundeck.

DAY 09: HALONG – HANOI (B, BRUNCH, D)

You can enjoy an early morning swim in the fresh water of the bay or just enjoy a morning view of Bay’s landscape until the breakfast served: sandwich, egg, jam or cookies, snacks, fresh fruit with a cup of tea or coffee. Sitting on the upper deck, enjoy the breath-taking beauty of the rocky islands rising from the crystal –clear waters. The quiet is eerie and you can hear birds singing, cicadas chirping ashore and the gentle lapping of the waves against the boat, perfect soundtrack to accompany fresh air and gentle breeze.

The vessel cruises on the bay then you will get on a tender to explore a grottoes (~60 minutes).

Return to the vessel for a short relax and cruise back. Check out your cabins.

If cooking course / demonstration wasn’t available on the previous days, it’s the time now. 

At 10:00, boat starts cruising back to Halong city and BRUNCH is served including the dishes you have just made.

Boat check out procedure when it arrives at the harbour at about 11:45~12:00. Our driver with car are ready, waiting for you. Get on car and transfer back to Hanoi.

Upon arrival in Hanoi, dinner will be served at local restaurant with set menu or buffet.

DAY 10: HANOI – HUE (B, D)

Transfer to the airport for the flight to Hue city. Upon arrival in Hue, our local guide with driver and car welcome, pick up and transfer you to hotel for checking in.

Hue was the former capital of Vietnam under Nguyen Dynasty during more than 100 years between 1802 and 1945. It is recognized as the World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO.

After a short relaxing time, proceed by our driver and car with guide to visit the Former Imperial City (Forbidden Purple City), the best-preserved remnant of a vast citadel and royal quarters that once existed on the site and was reserved solely to the Emperor. The Imperial City was almost entirely destroyed in the wars and now you can visit its relics.

Finally, visit Dong Ba market, one of the symbols of Hue.

Lunch is on your own account. Royal style dinner is served at local restaurant.

DAY 11: HUE – DA NANG – HOI AN (B, L)

AM: Our guide with driver and car will pick you up to transfer to visit Tu Duc or Khai Dinh and Minh Mang Kings’ tombs, which are on your must-visit list in Hue. Together with the Imperial City, they are historically vivid proofs of Vietnam’s royal art and architecture.

PM: Leave Hue for Hoi An ancient city, another Cultural World Heritage Site recognized by UNESCO.

Stop over the photogenic fishing village of Lang Co and Hai Van (Cloud Sea) Pass. Enjoy the wonderful view from the peak of the pass.

Arrive in Hoi An, a major Asian trading port in the 17th and 18th centuries. Check in hotel. 

Lunch and dinner are served at local restaurants.

If it falls on the 14th day in Vietnam lunar calendar today, you are lucky to have a chance to enjoy the “Lanterns light up” night or so-called “Full Moon Festival” in the ancient city.

In the ensuing quiet, the streets of Hoi An are at the most romantic sense and the darkness is broken only by jewel toned lanterns in all manner of shapes and sizes. You will see lots of traditional activities and games organized and you can also join them.

Strolling through the lantern-lit streets is like walking into a fairytale. It is all the more picturesque since motor vehicles are banned from Hoi An's Old Quarter.

DAY 12: HOI AN – TRA QUE – HOI AN (B, L)

AM: Transfer by car or ride bicycle yourself together with our guide to Tra Que village. It is a famous village supplying all kinds of herbs to the provinces of the Centre part of Vietnam.  

Upon arrival at the village, take a brief introduction to the history of the village and the cultivation of the vegetables in traditional Vietnamese medicines. Walk around the vegetable gardens and join the farmers in preparing the land and fertilizing it with seaweed from the local lake. Continue doing activities such as racking, wowing, watering greens picking greens and many more traditional gardening activities. Then spend the rest of working the land in the time honoured way. Follow & do local delicacies of the people from Centre Vietnam. Take an even more traditional Vietnamese post-prandial nap before learning how to harvest and wrap the vegetables.

There is a chance to try a traditional treatment method for your feet by local herbs. 

PM: Go back to Hoi An city centre for a walking tour to visit Hoi An / Silk Road Museum, a former merchant home, over 300 year-old Japanese Style Bridge and handicraft workshop. Enjoy folklore music if you are on time (except Sunday).

DAY 13: HOI AN – HALF DAY CITY TOUR (B)

AM: Go to the quay with our guide for a boat trip to visit Thanh Ha porcelain village and Kim Bong carpentry village. Return to the city and visit local market to see local daily life activities. 

PM: Free at leisure for relaxing at the beach, resort or shopping in town.

Overnight at hotel in Hoi An

DAY 14: HOI AN – DA NANG – SAIGON (B, D)

AM: Transfer with guide to Da Nang city for a visit to Cham Sculptural Museum. The establishment of a Cham Sculpture Museum in Da Nang was first proposed in 1902 by Department of Archaeology of L’École Franchise d’Extrême Orient (EFEO). The first building was designed by two French architects M. Deleval and M. Auclair. It first opened in 1919 but many Cham sculptures collected in Da Nang, Quang Nam and other places were brought to the site over the preceding twenty years. The collection was begun by French archaeologists and experts from EFEO. Some good artefacts were sent to Paris, Hanoi and Saigon museums, while many typical objects were left in Tourane (now in Da Nang). The museum has been extended twice and the character of the original architecture has been well preserved.

Continue to Da Nang Airport for flight to Ho Chi Minh City – still called Saigon by many locals. Upon arrival at Tan Son Nhat airport in Saigon, pick up and transfer to hotel for checking in. Relax.

PM: Saigon city tour with a visit to former Presidential Palace (Reunification Hall), Central Post Office, outside of Notre Dame Cathedral, City Hall and Opera House. Finally, free time for shopping at Ben Thanh market or Le Loi / Dong Khoi Streets in downtown.

Lunch is on your own account. Dinner is at local restaurant or on a boat (floating restaurant) cruising along the Saigon River with music and show.

DAY 15: SAIGON – TAY NINH – CU CHI (B, D)

AM: Take an excursion by road to Tay Ninh to visit Cao Dai Holy-See, centre of the Caodaism religion which is a syncretistic, monotheistic religion officially established in town of Tay Ninh, southern Vietnam, in 1926.

“Dao Cao Dai” is the religion's shortened name of the full name Đại Đạo Tam Kỳ Phổ Độ (Great Religion of the Third Period for Revelation & Salvation). Figuratively, it means that highest spiritual place where God reigns. According to Caodaiists, the full title was purposefully chosen by God representing of the Three Teachings: Saint, Sage and Buddha. That’s why this religion is a combination of Buddhism, Christianity, Taoism and Confucianism.

Attend the Noon Mass, the most important one among 6 times per day to watch the only colourful religion mass in the world.

PM: Leave Tay Ninh, continue transferring to Cu Chi for visiting an amazing complex of underground tunnels used during the American war.

Upon arrival at Cu Chi tunnel area, watch a short film and have an overall introduction on the tunnel system. Then, go to field underground to see some intricate pattern of tunnels and learn tactics of the revolutionary forces.

Try the local tea and foods used to be the main food during the wartime: Cassava (Tapioca), pressed steamed rice and peanut / sesame powder with salt.

After more than 1-2 hours walking in the area, get out for driving back to Saigon.

DAY 16: SAIGON – MEKONG DELTA (VINH LONG) – SAIGON (B, L)

Wake up and have your breakfast early to prepare for a full day excursion to Mekong Delta.

Drive to China Town so-locally-called “Cho Lon” (Big Market), which is located at the west bank of Saigon river. It was first established in Saigon in the middle of 18th century and is the biggest China Town in Vietnam.

Visit Binh Tay market which has been the central market of Cho Lon area and the business hub for local people. It’s also a hub for Vietnamese farmers trading daily goods coming from all directions of South Vietnam.

After that, visit Heavenly Lady (Thien Hau) pagoda, a Chinese style temple which is dedicated to the Lady of the Sea. Thien Hau is a deity of traditional Chinese religion, who is revered in the southern maritime provinces of China and in overseas Chinese communities. Although she is not deity of Taoism or Buddhism, Thien Hau is worshiped in many Chinese communities in China, Taiwan and Southeast Asia.

Then leave for Vinh Long, escaping from bustling Saigon urban sprawl a province of Mekong Delta. Mekong River flows into Vietnam with two branches: Upper and Lower rivers. There are twelve provinces and one central government city in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam. For a day trip, you can only have a tour in the provinces which are not too far from Saigon.

Arrive at Cai Be, a small town located at the Upper River bank in Tien Giang province. Take a boat trip cruising along Mekong River and follow small canals flowing sluggishly between two banks of luxuriant vegetation to Cai Be floating market, fruit orchards, a traditional family-run brick kiln. Stopover at an island, walk in country roads to visit rice paper – coconut candy – pop rice and corn family-run workshops to see the process of traditional products and visit the farmer’s fruit garden or bonsai garden.

Take a trial to steer local boat in small canals. Return to the main boat going through the canals to visit an ancient house. Cruise to Vinh Long town on the other bank of Upper River.

Car and driver are waiting for you. Get on car. Visit Vinh Long country market if time permits.

Transfer back to Saigon crossing My Thuan Bridge – the first bridge over the Mekong River in Vietnam in 2000 and became one of the most famous bridges in Vietnam in recent years. 

Lunch is at a farmer garden with Mekong Delta specialty. Dinner is on your own account.

DAY 17: SAIGON – SIEM REAP (B, D)

AM: Free time until our guide pick up to transfer to Tan Son Nhat airport for flight to Siem Reap.

Upon arrival at the airport in Siem Reap, our guide with driver and car welcome and transfer to the hotel for checking in, if room is available.

PM: Transfer to the pier for to take a one-hour boat trip on Tonle Sap Lake, visit the floating village.

Drive back to the city to visit the handicraft workshop and the local market.

Lunch is on your own account. Dinner is served at local restaurant.

DAY 18: SIEM REAP – FULL DAY TOUR (B, L, D)

AM: Transfer with our guide to have a full day tour to Angkor Area, the World Cultural Heritage Site recognized by UNESCO. Visit:

- The South Gate of Angkor Thom – the Great City, the famous Bayon temple built in 12th century in the centre of the “jungle city” remaining one of the most enigmatic temples of the Angkor group composed of 54 gothic towers decorated with 216 smiling faces of Avalokitesvara.

- The Baphuon temple lying just to the North of Bayon.

- The Terrace of Elephants used to be the giant reviewing stand for public ceremonies and served as a base for the king’s grand audience hall.

- The Terrace of the Leper King, a platform 7m high, on the top stands a nude though sexless statue.

- The Phimean Akas temple means “Celestial Palace”, dedicated to Hinduism.

PM: Visit the magnificent Angkor Wat – one of the seven greatest architectural wonders of the world, as a temple and mausoleum for King Suryavarman II at the peak of the Khmer empire in the first half of 12th.

Then got to the Rolous Group - Preah Ko, Ba Kong and Lo Lei temple

In the late afternoon, go to the Phnom Bakheng hill to enjoy the sun set watching.

DAY 19: SIEM REAP – FULL DAY TOUR (B, L)

Get up early to be transferred by car or Tuk-tuk or (if you are interested) ride bicycle to enjoy the Sunrise in Angkor Area if weather is good. Then go back to hotel for breakfast.

Transfer to have a full day to visit Angkor area:

- Sras Srang temple - royal pool which is situated opposite the East gate of Banteay Kdei, known as the King's bath. It is one of the few reservoirs in Angkor still holding water. Nevertheless, Sras Srang was modified two centuries later by King Jayavarman VII, who faced the dikes with sandstone and added a beautiful boat landing.

- Pre Rup, an architecturally and artistically superior temple-mountain with beautifully carved false doors on upper level, as well as an excellent view of surrounding countryside, richly detailed, well-preserved carvings. It was traditionally believed to be a funerary temple, but in fact the state temple of King Rajendravarman II.

- Banteay Srey temple, loosely meaning of “citadel of women”. It was built in a time when Khmer Empire gaining significant power and territory, now displays some of the finest examples of classical Khmer art.

- Fabulous Ta Prohm temple, embraced by roots of enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers. It is a quiet, sprawling monastic complex, partially cleared of jungle overgrowth. Intentionally left partially unrestored, massive fig and silk-cotton trees grow from the towers and corridors offering some of the best “tree-in-temple” photo opportunities at Angkor.

- Ta Keo temple, towering but plainly decorated temple-mountain dedicated to Shiva. Known in its time as ‘the mountain with golden peaks.’ This temple employing huge sandstone bloc.

If time is still available and you are not too tired, you can be transferred to visit some other temples among hundreds of them in Angkor.

After whole day tour, in the evening you can wander in the night market to find some souvenirs or  seat down for a glass of local beer to enjoy the atmosphere of another Asian night market.

DAY 20: SIEM REAP – DEPARTURE (B)

It is free at leisure until our guide with driver and car pick you up at the hotel for transferring to airport for onward flight.
